The High Priestess

The High Priestess is about knowing. She sais I know. This card is about listening and paying attention to our inner self. It is about trusting our inner voice and using our intuition. We should seek guidance from within ourselves. That is where we will find the answers. She tells us to sense the mysterious and allow events to develop without our intervention. She wants us to open up to the unknown and our deep inner wisdom. She is the Archetype of the female consciousness and represents the spiritual and virginal aspect of the feminine archetype. She is intuition and inspiration.
She sits in front of the veil that represents hidden knowledge or secrets. This links her with JUSTICE. The flowing waters are the source of all the flowing waters shown in the rest of the cards. Water symbolizes hidden or secret doctrines. She is passive and receptive and guards the gate of the unconscious. She is the keeper of the records. She holds the secret knowledge related to natural or universal truths or laws. She prods us to pay close attention the natural rhythms and cycles of our bodies and emotions.
