Eight of Wands

This card symbolizes the gift of explosive energy and the sensation of movement and expansion. Ideas, plans, goals or issues are neither grounded nor finalized but things are in progress. The appearance of this card tells us that now is the time to put things in motion. It is a time for initiative and action because obstacles will be or are being cleared from your way so that you can advance as you'd like. It is NOT a time for hastiness however. Action if it is to be effective must be well thought out. So when we see our chance, we should not hesitate because this card indicates fire's energy running aground with lots of cosmic help for a satisfactory ending. This card also signifies the receipt of important news or messages and clear and rewarding communications. In matters of romance Arthur E. Waite refers to them as the "arrows of love". Could be indicating that feeling of falling in love, infatuation or limerence. So in situations involving love, love affairs, seduction etc., this card could indicate that there is now rapid growth and proposals could be made and accepted. Regarding Wands' libidnous energy, Isabel Radow Kliegman writes "Here is a virtual explosion of vital energy...they can be specifically sexual in their symbolism...if there is a card for sexual climax, it would have to be the Eight of Wands."
